Buckhorn Estates is located in the spectacular mountain setting of Ellijay, just 90 miles north of Atlanta, Georgia, away from the hustle and bustle of the big city.
Buckhorn Estates is surrounded by the Chattahoochee National Forest and the nearby Cohutta Wilderness containing the old forests that shelter an array of flora and fauna through its ever-changing four seasons. Hike the endless trails or ride your mountain bike through the nearby scenic forests. Gilmer County is the official Mountain Biking Capital of Georgia.
Other recreational activities include rafting on the three rivers that converge near downtown Ellijay or hit the links at the 18-hole Whitepath Golf Course located within the boundaries of Buckhorn Estates.
Ellijay, the county seat of Gilmer County, is the county’s center of activity with retail stores, restaurants and a park along the scenic Coosawattee River. Downtown Ellijay is just five miles south of Buckhorn Estates.
As the Apple Capital of Georgia, the annual Georgia Apple Festival occurs during the second and third weekends in October.
